Pack the House IV scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 28

DENTON, Texas (January 21) –To help tip-off the Spring 2015 semester, TWU Athletics has partnered with the TWU Department of University Housing to host Pack the House IV next Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 7 p.m. in Kitty Magee Arena when the TWU basketball team takes on Texas A&M-Commerce.

Pack the House IV is the third sequel to the original Pack the House event that took place on Nov. 14, 2011, when a TWU Athletics record 1,373 fans jammed their way into KMA to see the Pioneer hoops squad defeat Ouachita Baptist by a 75-65 score. 1,087 spectators attended Pack the House II on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, when TWU played Midwestern State. For Pack the House III, on Nov. 11, 2013, 768 fans came out to see TWU take on Ouachita once again.

The goal of Pack the House IV is to set another TWU athletics attendance mark and help the Pioneers continue their recent impressive play with a strong showing against the Lions.

Here are a just a few reasons why you should help "pack the house" when the Pioneers square off against A&M-Commerce:

- FREE tailgate party (featuring hot dogs, chips, cookies, etc.) from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in front of Pioneer Hall while supplies last (sponsored by the Lutheran Campus Ministry).
- FREE admission!
- FREE Pack the House IV t-shirt courtesy of BBVA Compass Bank to the first 250 fans through the arena doors!
- Drawing for a full Spring 2015 housing scholarship from TWU University Housing (open to current TWU residential students only, past housing scholarship winners not eligible).
- Drawing for a $500 TWU spring 2015 semester tuition/fees grant (open to current TWU students only)!

(Note:  Must be present to win all drawings and door prizes)

Another prize that will be given out at Pack the House IV will be the prestigious Dean's Cup. The Dean's Cup is a competition between the four colleges at TWU – Health Sciences, Arts and Sciences, Nursing, and the College of Professional Education – to see what college can have the most members (students, faculty, staff) attend the Pack the House game. Health Sciences took home the Dean's Cup at Pack the House I, Arts and Sciences won the golden trophy at Pack the House II, and the College of Nursing claimed the cup at Pack the House III. Members of each college will sign it at their college table in the arena lobby to count towards the Dean's Cup total.

To encourage TWU faculty to take part in Pack the House IV, the TWU Office of the Provost, is sponsoring a drawing for a $200 travel stipend. Faculty members can enter this drawing at a registration table in the arena lobby.

TWU head basketball coach Beth Jillson is eagerly anticipating next week's Pack the House IV.

"Our first three Pack the House events were awesome," said Jillson. "Hopefully our TWU students, faculty, staff, and the Denton community will come out make Pack the House IV just as memorable."
