She was also on the sprint medley team that placed first in that event. In 1974, Sellers was a team captain and was named a USA Track & Field Federation (USATFF) All-American. She was the AIAW State Champion in 400H, 4x400 and the sprint medley - competing all on the same day! In 1975, Sellers was again named a team captain and qualified in the 400H for the national championship but was injured at nationals.

An outfielder and pinch runner, she was one of the original Pioneer softball players on TWU’s first team in 1971.  She played softball for one year.

A two-time All-American in track, she also earned academic honors including Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, Mortar Board, Phi Alpha Theta (history honor) and Dean’s Honor Roll. Sellers was also active as vice president of the University Women's Association, a TAPHER Student Officer, a Redbud Princess, and served as president of Hubbard Hall for three years, and president of the Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) majors.

After graduation in 1975 with a degree in health, physical education and recreation, Sellers received her master’s degree in education from the University of Houston in 1978. She stayed involved in high school, collegiate, and Olympic track & field for more than 40 years. After coaching in the Pasadena Independent School District from 1975-84, she was the head coach of cross country and track & field at Stephen F. Austin State University from 1984-88. Sellers then took an assistant women's track & field and cross country coaching position at Ohio State University from 1988-90. From 1990-95, Sellers served as the head women's cross country and track & field coach for Cypress-Fair High School in Houston where she also taught U.S. History and Health.

In 1995, Sellers made the move to USA Track & Field, where she was the manager of development programs at the headquarters in Indianapolis until 2003. As an administrator, she worked in the areas of Coaching Education, Elite and Jr. Elite Athlete Development along with conducting national championships and coordinating the USATF drug-testing program.

After her stint with USATF, she worked as the Manager of Coaching for the United State Olympic Committee from 2003-09, and was heavily involved with developing and disseminating educational information for coaches at a multitude of levels.  She served the USOC for 15 years, the last nine with the U.S. Paralympics.  In 2009, she was tapped to lead the U.S. Paralympics Track & Field Program as Associate Director of High Performance. She directed the 2016 U.S. Paralympic track and field team to an incredible 42 medals, more than any other sport for Team USA.

Sellers retired in April 2018 as the Director of U.S. Paralympics Track & Field, and lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
