DENTON (Jan. 8, 2019) — "This team was truly made for those moments," Lisa Bowerman said. "Made to conquer challenges, made to work together and made to leave their mark forever in Pioneer Gymnastics history."

On Sunday, Bowerman and her team received their national championship rings, commemorating their triumph last April when they defended their title at the 2018 USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championship.

"The journey brought us no shortages of challenges and successes," Bowerman said to the audience in attendance. "In the end, it brought us to the most special place in the world. Home."

Last spring, with the support of the home crowd behind them, the Pioneers captured the program's 11th national championship in record-breaking fashion. TWU posted the best score in both Pioneer and USA Gymnastics championship history with a 196.525.

"If you were lucky enough to be in Kitty Magee Arena that weekend in April," Bowerman added. "You were lucky enough to experience the pure magic that filled our home arena."

Each student-athlete, coach, administrator and support staff received a championship ring that was enclosed in a special wooden case. Each box that was individually crafted, and donated, by Tom and Dina Holley, features each recipients' name along with the team's record-breaking score and each year of the program's previous nine championships listed around the edges.

7148The top of the case celebrates the team's back-to-back USAG National Championships, with the years 2017 and 2018, separated by the words "back to back", engraved with the TWU logo embedded in the middle. Inside each box, the phrases "live for the moments", "#ACT" and "11x" were engraved alongside the names of each member of the team.

The rings, provided by the TWU Foundation and TWU Alumni Association, features a maroon TWU logo resting on diamond gems with the words "back to back national champions" around the top and has the team score on one side with the individual's name on the other.

"All in. Consistently. Together," Bowerman said. "Those were the things that we knew would be key in helping us materialize our team into what we knew we were capable of becoming."

Together, they became national champions, immortalizing their legacy in the storied history of Texas Woman's Athletics.
