DENTON, Texas (Nov. 8, 2023) – History continues for the 2023 Texas Woman's volleyball team, as the Pioneers are ranked in the top eight of the NCAA South Central Region this week at No. 7.

On the first NCAA South Central Regional Rankings last week, the Pioneers were under consideration for the first time since 2015. The Pioneers are at No. 7 this week with just one week left of play in the regular season.

"Every time we are recognized for a regional ranking is a good achievement," TWU Volleyball Head Coach Jeff Huebner said, "and we are very grateful for the work our team has done. Now, we have the opportunity to go on the road for our last regular season matches and continue to grow."

The top 10 teams in the South Central Region, which includes the Lone Star Conference and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, will be ranked weekly until the final Selection Show for the NCAA Tournament on Monday, Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m.

The top eight teams in the region will advance to the NCAA South Central Regional Tournament.

Of the 10 teams in the region, seven teams are from the LSC – Angelo State, UAFS, Dallas Baptist, Texas A&M – Kingsville, UT Tyler, West Texas A&M and TWU. Currently, West Texas A&M tops the South Central Region at No. 1. MSU Denver and Colorado Mesa, from the RMAC, round out the top three, respectively.

Last week, the Pioneers went 2-0 in LSC action, defeating Texas A&M International and current No. 8 in the South Central Region Texas A&M – Kingsville. TWU has two more matches in regular season action this Friday and Saturday, as they meet current No. 10 in the region UAFS and Oklahoma Christian.
