Texas Woman’s University soccer coach Fleur Benatar and her staff will host a Coaching the Female Soccer Player Symposium on May 7-8, 2010. University of Illinois head coach Janet Rayfield will be the guest speaker and lead instructor at this event.

This coaching clinic is designed for coaches who coach girls/women’s soccer players at all levels. The symposium will offer a comprehensive education in all areas of soccer with emphasis on the female soccer player. Topics covered will include systems of play within the thirds of the field - defensively and offensively, making the practice competitive, goalkeeping and many others..

Janet Rayfield played 18 years of amateur and professional soccer and has coached 11 first team All-Big Ten players and 49 Academic All-Big Ten Honorees.  She guided her team to six consecutive NCAA College Cup appearances from 2003-08 and has 145 total career wins.  As a player she led teh North Carolina Tar Heels to the first-ever NCAA championship in 1982, first of 18 national titles in the storied history of UNC program.
