Carley Messmer

The 2008 season will be Carley Messmer’s second as the Pioneers’ Assistant Volleyball Coach.

Messmer is a familiar face to TWU volleyball fans as she was the number one setter and team captain on the Pioneers’ volleyball squad for three seasons (2003-05). In 2003, after transferring from the University of Texas-San Antonio, she led the Pioneers with 1,023 assists and was an honorable mention selection to the Lone Star Conference North Division All-Conference squad. In 2004, she totaled a team-high 943 assists and set a TWU single-season record with 206 kills by a setter. For her efforts during her junior season, she was chosen to the LSC North Division All-Conference first team. In her senior season of 2005, Messmer played in all but one of the Pioneers’ games and totaled 1,351 assists, 145 kills, and 322 digs. She was again chosen for the LSC North Division All-Conference First Team. Additionally, she was selected to the 2005 LSC Volleyball Tournament All-Tournament Team.

Messmer, a native of Garland, Texas, also excelled in the classroom. She was named to the LSC North Division All-Academic Team on two occasions (2004 and 2005) and chosen for the LSC North Division Commissioner’s Honor Roll in 2003. Messmer graduated from TWU in May 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics.

She also served as a head coach in the Denton Juniors Volleyball Club in 2003-04.
