Garrett Griffeth

Garrett Griffeth became the assistant gymnastics coach in August, 2013.

Griffeth comes to TWU from Cincinnati Gymnastics Academy, a club gymnastics facility owned by two-time U.S. Olympic head coach Mary Lee Tracy. Griffeth was an optional coach there, working primarily with USAG Levels 8, 9, and 10.

Griffeth had a remarkable 2017 season coaching the Pioneers to victory at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championship. Additionally he coached 7 gymnast to 12 USAG All-American honors. He was an intricate part of leading Schyler Jones to the NCAA Regional Competition as well as two alternates. Griffeth was named MIC Assistant Coach of the Year and helped lead the team to a second place finish at the MIC Championship. 

In 2016 Griffeth and the Pioneers finished third at the MIC Championship and went on to compete in USAG National Championship Team Qualifying Meet.

Prior to his stint at CGA, Griffeth spent two years with the University of Georgia gymnastics program as the Gym Dogs graduate assistant (2010-11) and administrative associate (2011-12). He was responsible for daily operations involving the coaching staff and team, managing social media avenues, planning recruits official and unofficial campus visits, handling paperwork in compliance with NCAA regulations, team travel and coordinating facility upgrades and annual maintenance.

Griffeth also interned with the Indianapolis Colts athletic training staff in the summer of 2009. He assisted the Colts training staff in providing care and rehabilitation during their summer OTA's (Organized Team Activities), rookie mini-camps, and the team's training camp. He also served as a student athletic trainer from 2008-2010 at Georgia and personal trainer at Athens Personal Fitness from 2007-2008.

Griffeth earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sport Science with a concentration in Athletic Training in 2010 and master's degree in Sports Management in 2011 from Georgia. He is married to former Olympic gymnast Courtney McCool-Griffeth.
