Junior setter Katy Ranes has been named the Edward Jones Student-Athlete of the Month for her accomplishments on the court in September.
Since the start of the volleyball season, Ranes has totaled 751 assists and is averaging 10.76 assists per set which leads the Lone Star Conference and is 18th in the nation (through 9/27). The Copperas Cove native eclipsed 2,000 career assists on August 25 against Florida Tech. She has registered eight double-doubles (assists-digs) and added 39 total blocks.
Facing off against Texas A&M–Kingsville on Sept. 14, Ranes set a personal-best 63 assists along with five blocks to help the Pioneers defeat the Javelinas. On Sept. 22, she recorded her highest number of kills this season with six in a sweep of Cameron.
Ranes, a kinesiology major, received this award for the month of September last year.
The 2018 season began with a tournament the last weekend in August, and TWU currently has a record of 11-7 overall, 3-5 in the Lone Star.
This is the second year that Kyle Nayfa with Edward Jones Investments has sponsored the Student-Athlete of the Month Award with TWU Athletics.
