Genny Stidham

Genny Stidham was named the TWU head softball coach in August of 2013 after guiding the University of Central Oklahoma to its first-ever national championship in May of 2013.

In her first two season, Stidham guided the Pioneers to a 62-41-2 overall record and 36-17-2 in the Lone Star Conference.  Last season she was named the Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year after guiding the team to a second place finish in the conference.  TWU advanced to its sixth straight (13th overall) LSC Championship Tournament and fourth consecutive (seventh overall) trip to NCAA South Central Regional Tournament in 2015.

Under Stidham's direction 14 TWU softball players received all-conference honors, seven all-region honors and two all-america honors.  The Pioneers also succeeded in the classroom the last two season.  Five players received Academic All-LSC honors, four players earned Academic All-America honors, three players named LSC Acadmeic Players of the Year and one tabbed Academic All-America of the Year.

Central Oklahoma also captured the 2013 conference title in its inaugural season in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA). UCO made seven NCAA tournament appearances, including three trips to the NCAA Division II Softball Championship Finals (2006, ’12 and ’13). The Bronchos won the title this past season and finished with a 51-11 record.

Under Stidham’s direction, 77 UCO softball players received all-conference honors, 19 earned all-region honors and five received All-America recognition. In addition to the on-field accolades, her student-athletes have succeeded academically as well. Stidham has coached two Academic All-Americans, two Lone Star Conference Academic Players of the Year and 28 All-Academic Team selections.

Stidham spent two seasons as the Bronchos’ graduate assistant coach from 1995-1997 prior to becoming the head coach. She also spent the 1995 season as an assistant coach at Oklahoma helping the Sooners to the NCAA Regional finals.

Stidham played college softball at Central Oklahoma in 1991 and 1992. She earned first-team All-Midwest Region honors and UCO’s first-ever softball All-American recognition in 1992 as a senior. Stidham ranks second on UCO’s career winning percentage list at .714 with a 25-10 record. She had 278 strikeouts and allowed just 32 earned runs in 231 innings pitched, finishing with a career 0.97 ERA. Stidham was inducted into the UCO Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009.
