Brittany Jones of Texas Woman's University assisted
Gaby Larson and
Chelsea Martin within the first 14 minutes of the contest against Texas-Permian Basin to guide the Pioneers to a 2-0 win over the Falcons in Lone Star Conference action Friday night on UTPB Turf Field.
TWU (6-4-1, 2-3-0) registered 14 shots on the night compared to 11 from UTPB (0-8-1, 0-5-0 LSC) and put seven shots on goal to just two by the Falcons.
Samantha Jimenez tallied two saves while UTPB stopped five.
During the 11
th minute, Jones sent assist number one to Larson for her first goal on the season. Larson directed her shot from just outside the box into the upper right corner of the goal for a 1-0 Pioneer advantage.
Less than two minutes later, Larson and Jones teamed up again, this time to assist Pioneer goals leader Martin on a header to put TWU up 2-0.
The combined three assists from Larson and Jones was a team season-high, and the two shots allowed by the Pioneers set a season-best mark.
TWU travels to Angelo State Sunday for a 2 p.m. match.
