Preview: Pioneers at No. 22 Emporia State Saturday

About the Pioneers
TWU began the season 3-0 before falling to Central Oklahoma during the final game of the 2017 Best Western Premier Pioneer Classic. Senior forward Alexis Nezianya leads the team with averages of 12.8 points and 10.8 rebounds, and junior guard Kara Mitchell is posting 9.5 points, 5.3 assists and 4.5 rebounds per contest.
 
About No. 22 Emporia State
The Lady Hornets are 2-2 on the season with wins over Southwestern Oklahoma State and Arkansas-Fort Smith along with losses to Oklahoma Baptist and Newman. Emily Miller averages 15.3 points, and Jacee Kramer puts up 11.5 points per game. In the MIAA preseason poll, ESU was picked to finish third and received two first-place votes.
 
History between TWU and ESU
The Pioneers have yet to defeat the Lady Hornets as ESU leads the all-time series, 3-0. The first matchup occurred during the 1996-97 season, while the second was during Head Coach Beth Jillson's first year at the helm of the Pioneers in 2007, and the most recent taking place in 2014.

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (Nov. 14, 2014) – The TWU basketball team hung tough with No. 7 Emporia State early in the game but suffered a 76-61 loss to the Lady Hornets in their 2014-15 season opener at the Ashbrook Classic hosted by Midwestern State.
Senior Ria Pateraki and sophomore Emily Spector had 13 points each to lead the TWU offense.  Senior Ashley Salazar and sophomore Kenesha Saygo added nine points apiece for the Pioneers. Senior Barbara-Scott Kolb had eight points for TWU while freshman Morgan Easley made her collegiate debut with seven points off the Pioneer bench.
