GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Feb. 12, 2017) - Texas Woman's University closed out the final day of the North Texas Softball Bash with a 7-5 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State and cruised to an 11-0 defeat of Oklahoma Panhandle State behind a one-hit shutout by
Abby Walker and home runs from
Chelsie McClure and
Alexis Elizondo Sunday at Jennifer McFalls Park.

NWOSU (3-8) doubled to left center to tally the first hit of the contest, and a sacrifice fly scored runner number one to put the Rangers up in the top of the first. The Pioneers answered in the bottom of the frame beginning with a
Nicole Nordie double to left field.
Katy Stephens singled to left center and scored on a
Tori Bice RBI single. An Elizondo hit scored two Pioneer runs for a 3-1 advantage.

With two outs in the top of the second, the Rangers collected three straight hits that led to a tie ballgame at 3-3. The Pioneers again ran up a pair of outs on NWOSU in the top of the fourth before a single and error turned into an RBI double to push the Rangers ahead, 5-3.

Nordie notched another double in the fourth with a shot to center field that brought around
Tara Solomon.
Tori Bice started off the bottom of the fifth with a single up the middle and made her way around via a Pioneer groundout, sacrifice fly and wild pitch to knot the game at 5-5.

Another Nordie double led off the bottom of the sixth, and a Stephens sacrifice fly placed her on third.
Tylia Sylestine lined a single to right field to plate Nordie, and Hazel Peumpel singled to bring in
Nicole Parnell to put the Pioneers up 7-5. The Rangers attempted to stay alive in the top of the seventh with a leadoff double, but three straight outs finished off the game.

Sylestine registered the first TWU hit with a double through the right side to bring in Stephens in the bottom of the first, and Sylestine rounded the bases due to an OPSU error for a 2-0 TWU lead.

A trio of three straight singles by Stephens, Sylestine and Puempel tacked on three more runs to extend the margin to 5-0 in the second. McClure and Elizondo each posted their first home runs on the season with shots to left field one after another in the bottom of the third for a 7-0 advantage before a Sylestine RBI added another run.

An Aggie error led to
Morgan Harrison reaching second and scoring Parnell, and singles by Solomon, Nordie and Stephens tacked on two final runs for the Pioneers.

Walker (4-1) produced a stellar performance with eight strikeouts and retired the last 14 batters in order after an infield single to lead off the game.

Due to the weather forecast, the Pioneers moved back their home opener to Wednesday with a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. against Oklahoma Christian.
