Each team was held scoreless throughout the first two innings until Nordie got things rolling with a double to right center in the top of the third.
Katy Stephens drew a walk, and a single to left center by
Hazel Puempel brought Nordie around for the first score of the day. A walk to
Tylia Sylestine loaded the bases, and a sacrifice fly to right field by
Tori Bice scored
Katy Stephens. A RBI single to second base by Walker put TWU (16-10, 6-5 LSC) up 3-0, and a walk to
Morgan Harrison with runners on each base added another score. The Javelinas (13-9, 5-6 LSC) changed pitchers and gathered two outs on the next two batters to end the inning.
Â
TAMUK found some offense in the third inning as well, scoring on an RBI double from their second batter. A single to right field closed the gap to 4-2 before a single down the left field line made it 4-3.
Â
A single by Nordie and fielder's choice to Stephens preceded a Puempel at bat where she doubled to right field for another pair of Pioneer runs. In the bottom of the frame, a Javelina home run pulled TAMUK to within 6-4.
Â
Facing two outs in the top of the sixth,
Tara Solomon singled to third to fill the bases. Nordie placed a single in right field to double up the score, 8-4, on the Javelinas. The Pioneer defense tallied six straight outs to finish off the contest.

The Javelinas then filled the bases by way of two walks and a single, but Stephens made a throw to Harrison to catch the runner for the third out of the inning.
Â
Stephens and Puempel notched back-to-back singles in inning number four and both advanced a base on a wild pitch. Bice put down a bunt to allow Stephens to score for a 1-0 TWU lead. Elizondo emulated Bice, but Puempel was caught out at home. Walker reached on a TAMUK error, but a Pioneer grounded concluded the inning.
Â
Nordie singled up the middle in the top of the fifth and advanced to second on a bunt by Stephens before both runners moved up a base on another wild pitch. A Puempel single to left field brought in Nordie to put the Pioneers up 2-0.
Â
The Javelinas managed one more hit in the bottom of the seventh, but a fly out and strike out by Walker gave TWU the win.
Â
Walker (7-0) took the win on three hits, four walks and five strikeouts.
