DENTON, Texas (Feb. 10, 2018) - Three Pioneers scored in double figures for Texas Woman's University in a 67-43 win over Western New Mexico Saturday afternoon inside Kitty Magee Arena.

Alexis Nezianya tallied a game-high 14 points along with eight rebounds,
Whitney Apari registered 13 points and a game-high nine rebounds, while
Bri'anna Gray added 10 points. The Pioneers (9-13, 6-10 LSC) set a season-high from the field with a 55-percent showing from the field in their largest margin of win on the season.

A driving layup by
Ma'K'La Woods opened the contest, and a three-pointer from the left wing put the Pioneers up 5-0. Nezianya provided a bucket in the paint, and
Morgan Easley hit a jumper for an 11-3 advantage midway through the first. A shot by Apari had TWU up, 15-8, before the Mustangs (1-23, 1-14 LSC) converted a layup at the buzzer.

WNMU pulled within 15-12 early in the second, but the Pioneers strung together 10 straight points to jump ahead 23-12 at the at the 4:32 mark. TWU ended the period with three straight buckets, including a buzzer beater by
Kameron Daily.

Stastny connected on a three a minute into the third quarter, and Gray followed up with a three-point play for a 41-21 lead. Nezianya scored underneath, and Easley made a drive from the left side to increase the margin with 4:50 to play in the period.

A three-pointer by Apari handed TWU their largest lead of the game at 56-29 with 7:29 to play. A short corner jumper by Daily kept the deficit at 65-40, and Gray added a layup with 28 seconds left.

Beth Jillson said, "We started fast and were able to extend the lead by sharing the basketball, getting high percentage shots and being locked in on defense. Our starters set the tone early, and our bench provided that same energy and focus to help us get the win."

The Pioneers head to Texas A&M-Commerce Tuesday for a 7 p.m. contest.
