DENTON, Texas (Feb. 24, 2018) - Four scored in double-figures for Texas Woman's University in a 71-66 win over Midwestern State on Senior Day Saturday afternoon inside Kitty Magee Arena.

Alexis Nezianya made the most of her TWU home finale by posting team-highs of 20 points and seven rebounds to go along with a game-high four blocks.
Bri'anna Gray totaled 14 points, while
KJ Stastny added 13 and senior
Whitney Apari added 11. The Pioneers (11-15, 8-10) led by as many as 18 in the third quarter before Midwestern State (13-13, 10-10 LS LSC) mounted a 21-7 run to pull within 68-64 with just over five minutes to play.

TWU tallied the highest team field goal percentage of any Lone Star Conference matchup this season by connecting on 61-percent of their attempts by shooting an impressive 28-of 46 from the field.

Cienna Rodriguez nailed a three from the right wing to begin an early Pioneer offensive barrage in the first quarter. A jumper by Stastny began a 10-0 TWU run that included back-to-back layups by Gray and two scores in the paint from Nezianya put the Pioneers up, 15-4, midway through the period. TWU was able to add two more field goals throughout the remainder of the quarter as the Mustangs pulled within 19-16.

Two three-pointers on the left side by Statsny in the second quarter and fast break layup by Gray handed the Pioneers a 29-19 lead three minutes in. MSU pulled within 33-28 on a three with under two minutes until halftime before Stastny converted a baseline drive, and
Kameron Daily found her way out of a trap for a layup and a 37-30 Pioneer lead at the break.

Stastny hit a three in the third quarter to give the Pioneers a 44-32 lead, and Gray upped it to 49-35 at the 5:30 mark. A strong move in the paint by Nezianya led to a three-point play for a 16-point advantage with four minutes to play in the period.
Ma'K'La Woods scored from the left block, and Nezianya made a shot in the paint to put the Pioneers ahead, 61-43.

Beth Jillson said, "Our seniors led the way today. We started with lots of energy and were able to maintain the momentum throughout the game. We were very efficient from the field, took high percentage shots and were locked in defensively. It was really important to our team to honor our seniors and send them out with a win."

The Pioneers enter postseason play at the Lone Star Conference tournament as the eighth seed and begin competition March 1 at 8:30 p.m. versus No. 1 seed Angelo State.
