A double to left center by the Javelinas (14-9, 7-5 LSC) in the top of the second scored the first two runs of the day for a 2-0 TAMUK advantage. A pair of errors by the Pioneers (13-8, 5-4 LSC) in the fourth allowed two Javelina runners to reach third before TWU caught a ball in foul territory to end the inning.
Â
A home run by TAMUK in the fifth added another score for a 3-0 lead. The Pioneers mustered their second hit of the day in the bottom of the frame on a single through the right side by
Marisa Arriaga, but three straight outs ended any scoring opportunity.
Â
Abby Walker singled to center field in a comeback effort in the bottom of the seventh before pinch runner
Kenzie Wilson advanced to second on a single up the middle by Makayla Cook. With two Pioneers on base, a third and final out concluded the contest.
Â
Walker (5-6) took the loss with seven hits, two strikeouts and three walks.

The Pioneers finally found some offense in game two beginning with a
Lindy Kennedy single up the middle. Kennedy stole second, and
Tylia Sylestine earned a walk as
Hazel Puempel then brought the runner around with a single to center field. Walker sent a single to right field to fill the bases before
Jordan Kisselburg singled to right center to score Sylestine, and
Raegyn Parrish tallied an RBI to put TWU up 3-0.
Â
In the third, Kisselburg made it to third via a single, stealing second and a wild pitch. A Cook single through the left side brought in Kisselburg, and a Javelina fielding error allowed pinch runner Alexa Niefert to make it around to make it 5-0. A hit from Sylestine added two more runs, and a passed ball allowed Kennedy to sneak in to make it 8-0.
Â
Three Pioneer throwing errors in the fourth accounted for three TAMUK scores, and another miscue in the fourth helped bring Javelinas to within three runs. In the final two innings,
Cheyenne Mahy held TAMUK hitless to preserve the win.
Â
Mahy (7-1) recorded the win on one earned run with three strikeouts.
Â
Head Coach
Genny Stidham said, "There was good pitching by Parrish and Mahy, but we need to cut down on the 10 errors we made this weekend."
Â
The Pioneers host Missouri Western Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader at 11 a.m.
