AUSTIN, Texas (February 1, 2020) - Texas Woman's (6-12, 4-10) fell to St. Edward's (12-8, 8-7) by a score of 85-62 in a Lone Star Conference road contest on Saturday afternoon.
Despite shooting 53 percent from the field, the Pioneers were unable to mount a second-half comeback in Austin. TWU opened the game by shooting a blistering 75 percent from the field in the first quarter to take a 20-15 lead heading into the second frame. The Hilltoppers responded with a 30-point second quarter and took an advantage into the half, which they held for the remainder of the game.
The Pioneers were led by
Macy Wilkerson with 13 points on 6-10 shooting from the field to go with five rebounds.
Ma'K'La Woods tallied her fourth double-digit scoring performance in the last five games after going 4-6 from both the field and the free throw line. Joining Wilkerson and Woods in double figures was freshman
Sadie Moyer who set career highs in points (11) and rebounds (7).
Ngozi Obineke (8),
London Archer (6),
Amaya Briggs (6),
Madyson Johnson (2),
Maggie Stephenson (2), and Ajiné Taylor (2) rounded out the scoring for TWU.
The Pioneers return to Kitty Magee Arena for two more LSC games next week. TWU will host Cameron on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in their annual Play for Kay game. Midwestern State will come to town on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
