ISLAS SCORES GAME-WINNER, JACINTO PICKS UP FOURTH SHUTOUT AS PIONEERS TOP ENMU

PORTALES, N.M. - Rayne Islas' goal in the 18th minute provided all the offense that the Texas Woman's University soccer team (4-0-2, 1-0-0 Lone Star Conference) would need, as Alex Jacinto notched her fourth shutout of the season as the Pioneers picked up a 1-0 victory over Eastern New Mexico (2-4-0, 0-1-0) at Greyhound Stadium.

"Anytime you can win a road game in the LSC you know your team did some good things," said head coach Babak Abouzar. "Playing in Portales is tough. Rayne had a great goal by another fantastic assist from (Kalista Miller). What a way for Rayne to score her first collegiate goal! We felt as a team we should have finished more of our opportunities but credit to our GK, backline and overall team defending for limiting Eastern's opportunities. We'll rest up and get ready for a good St. Mary's team at home on Saturday."

The Pioneers applied substantial pressure in the opening half, outshooting ENMU 11-1. TWU held a 16-4 advantage in shots for the game, with a 9-1 advantage in shots on goal, while TWU also had a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Islas had a team-high three shots, with two coming on goal, while Haley Ward added a pair of shots on goal. Miller's assist was her second of the year.

TWU's opening half saw opportunities in the 16th minute, two in the 38th minute, and 44th minute, while the second half saw the Pioneers take shots on goal in the 52nd, 59th, 61st, and 64th minutes.

The Pioneers continue with Lone Star Conference play, returning to the Pioneer Soccer Park on Saturday, September 25 for a 1 p.m. matchup against St. Mary's.
