PIONEERS CLOSE ARKANSAS SWING WITH 2-0 WIN OVER HARDING

DENTON, Texas - Alex Jacinto picked up a pair of saves in net while Alyssa Simien and Keely Chapman scored goals as the Texas Woman's University soccer team (1-0-1) wrapped up its Arkansas road trip with a 2-0 win over Harding (0-2-0) on Saturday at the Stevens Soccer Complex.

"We achieved a great team win today, playing two games in three days is tough to do and our players responded very well," said head coach Babak Abouzar. "We were able to present the depth of this season's team, as we utilized every available player today. Our first goal was a great team effort, capped off by Alyssa Simien. Holly Keil was able to set up the ball perfectly for Keely Chapman to knock off a great header into the goal."

TWU got on the board in the eighth minute when McKenzie Rizqi connected with Simien on a through ball, giving the Pioneers an early 1-0 advantage. TWU added its second goal in the 68th minute when Keil found Chapman on a cross.

The Pioneers applied pressure consistently throughout the contest, holdign a 13-5 advantage on shots and a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal. TWU and Harding both had a pair of corner kicks.

Jacinto and Sherman split time in net during the shutout, with the Bisons not managing a shot on goal during the second half.

The Pioneers return home for the home opener on Friday, September 10, hosting Regis in a 7 p.m. matchup.
