DENTON, Texas (Sept. 10, 2022). – The Texas Woman's volleyball team finishes on top in Lone Star Conference Crossover tournament after defeating Midwestern State 3-1. The Pioneers were the only team to go 4-0 this weekend against their conference opponents in Kitty Magee Arena.
Ending the weekend in high fashion, the Pioneers (9-3) triumphed over Midwestern State (2-10), extending their winning streak to eight games, all eight which were won in KMA.
Although the Pioneers win in four sets, MSU started off the first set strong. The Mustangs wasted no time, as they iced out the Pioneers defense with a 25-20 win in the first set. After a false start from the Pioneers, they were able to regroup and capture the momentum winning set two 25-18. With a solid performance from the Pioneers to close out set three 25-15, the Pioneers ran off with the win in set four, 25-18.
KMA was filled with infectious vigor in set two when the Pioneers gained their first lead of the night against the Mustangs from a stuffed block by
Tori Woods and
Kiya Yeoman. The block party doesn't stop there, as Yeoman led the night with nine blocks, while
Sarah Lindley sealed the deal for the Pioneers at the net with five blocks.

Lizzy Reed and
Kiana Reed) has added variety to our offense."
The Pioneers left the Mustangs stifled in set three with a hitting efficiency of .02. It was only a matter of time before the Pioneers were back in their offensive rhythm.
Kaia Saylor led the Pioneers tonight with 15 kills and continues to lead the Pioneers in kills per set at 3.22.
Clayre Pullin proved to be an asset tonight, coming in and instantly stunning the Mustang defense with a kill in set three. Pullin recorded a season high nine kills tonight against the Mustangs.
Lizzy Reed recorded two double-doubles this weekend in assist and digs, while also growing her season high in digs to 14.
Lone Star Conference play officially begins Friday, Sept.16, as the Pioneers defend their home court against St. Mary's at 6 p.m.
