TWU FALLS TO ANGELO STATE

DENTON, Texas (Sept. 21, 2022) – After exchanging several points to start off the first set, Angelo State (7-8, 3-0) slowed the Texas Woman's (10-5, 1-2) offense in a 3-1 win over the Pioneers.
 
Eager to win their second conference match, the Pioneers forced the Belles to four sets after winning set two, 25-17. The Pioneers were able to hold the Belles to a -0.023 hitting efficiency and capitalized on the unforced errors from Angelo State.
 
Going into the third set the Pioneers and Belles continued to serve aggressively, starting off a tied set with service errors . The Rams rebounded quickly to go on a six-point scoring run. Unable to close the gap, the Pioneers dropped set three 25-12.
 
The Belles opened set four in a 9-1 scoring lead. Unable to produce offensively, the Pioneers were held to a -0.103 hitting efficiency. Closing out the match with a total of 31 errors, the Pioneers generated a total of 38 kills during the match.
 
Trixie Oche was the Pioneers leading scorer Wednesday night, with a total of 12.5 points, followed by Tori Woods scoring 10.5 points during the match.
 
Defensively, Oche registered three solo blocks and five block assist out of the teams ten total blocks for the night.
 
Service for the Pioneers has continued to remain aggressive as the Pioneers scored three aces for the night from Woods, Kaia Saylor, and Yanely Pabon.
 
The Texas Woman's volleyball team will be on the road for their next three matches. This Saturday, Sept. 24 the Pioneers will be in Odessa, Texas playing against UT Permian Basin.
