DENTON, Texas (Jan. 25, 2023) – Wear your pink in honor of Texas Woman's basketball annual Play4Kay game, as the Pioneers take on Oklahoma Christian at home in Kitty Magee Arena Thursday, Jan. 26 at 6 p.m. 

No. 3/4 TWU (17-1, 12-0) remain the only undefeated team in Lone Star Conference action, after defeating West Texas A&M and Lubbuck Christian last week. 

After the win, the Pioneers entered the top five of both the D2SIDA National Poll and the WBCA Top 25 Poll. Additionally, they were named to the NCAA Division II Top 10 Power Rankings on Jan. 25. 

OC (3-14, 3,10) have won three LSC games this season, defeating Arkansas - Fort Smith, Texas A&M - Kingsville and St. Mary's. Last week, the Eagles dropped two games in conference action. They lost to Cameron, 61-52, and Midwestern State, 71-67 in overtime. 

The Pioneers will meet the Eagles for the second time this season. Their first meeting was at Oklahoma Christian on Sunday, Jan. 1. TWU defeated OC 76-67 in that meeting. 

The last time the Pioneers played OC in Denton, Texas was during the 2021 season, when the Pioneers defeated the Eagles 68-62.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES 
  • OFFENSIVE THREATS: The Eagles are led on the offensive end by No. 12 Brooklin Bain, averages 14.0 points per game. Bain has started all 13 games for the Eagles and shoots 40.7% from the field. She is the only Eagle who averages double figures. Leading the Eagles from behind the arc is No. 5 Kate Bradley. In her 12 starts, she shoots 34.2% from the three point line. 
  • FREE POINTS: In their loss to Midwestern State, the Eagles shot 48% from the free throw line on 25 attempts. The Pioneers, against Lubbock Christian, went 19-19 from the free throw line. If the Pioneers can get to the free throw line, they will have an advantage.
  • D-UP: In their first meeting against the Eagles, TWU forced 14 turnovers and scored 15 points off those turnovers. However, the Pioneers also committed 18 turnovers themselves. TWU will look to protect the rock more in this game and take advantage of their strong defense throughout the second half of the season.
