SCOUTING THE JAVELINAS
  • IN THE LAST MEETING: The Pioneers and the Javelinas played a close first half in their first meeting this season. At halftime, TWU led 31-28. Then, TWU exploded offensively, recording two quarters of 24 points of scoring. Additionally in the third quarter, TWU held TAMUK to just nine points to aid in the big win. The Pioneers shot 51.6% from the field in the win, while the Javelinas were held to 34.5% from the field.
  • CRASH THE BOARDS: Throughout the season, the Pioneers have been strong on the boards. They will have to continue to flex their strength on the boards today against the Javelinas. In their last game, TWU out-rebounded TAMUK 41-27, a huge disparity that led to the win. Furthermore, TWU grabbed 12 offensive boards for 13 second chance points.
  • SHOT SELECTION: It is no secret the Pioneers score most of their points in the paint. Against TAMUK on Jan. 12, TWU scored 40 points in the paint to TAMUK's just 22 in the painted area. The Javelinas look for a majority of their points from beyond the arc, so TWU will have to defend the three well and play lock down defense. Additionally, they will have to battle and made good shot selection choices today to secure the win.
