DENTON, Texas (Feb. 8, 2023) – The Texas Woman's basketball team returns home to Kitty Magee Arena for a Thursday night game at 6 p.m. against Texas A&M International.

On Thursday night, the Pioneers will honor their favorite faculty and staff members during pregame introductions. Additionally, TWU will also be hosting NPHC Night, in honor of the National Panhellenic Council (NPHC) – the national governing body for the nine historically African-American sororities and fraternities.

TWU (21-1, 16-0) remains undefeated in the Lone Star Conference. They will meet TAMIU (12-12, 5-11) for the second time this season, but for the first time in KMA since 2021.

The Pioneers met the Dustdevils earlier this season in Laredo, Texas on Saturday, Jan. 14 and secured the win, 66-60.

SCOUTING THE DUSTDEVILS
  • LOOK BACK: In the Pioneers' win over the Dustdevils earlier this season, Sadie Moyer had a career-high 34-point performance on seven-made three pointers. Ashley Ingram also scored in double digits, finishing with 11 points. TWU shot 37.9% from three and 34.5% from the field. They forced TAMIU into 18 turnovers and scored 15 points off those turnovers. TWU scored just eight points in the paint and allowed TAMIU to score 30 points in the paint. They will look to flip that disparity in Thursday's night game.
  • SCORING THREATS: The Dustdevils are led by junior forward No. 44 Rai Brown, who averages 19.1 points per game. She shoots an average of 60.5% from the field. TAMIU averages 68.1 points per game, 43.1% from the field and 30.9% from the three. The Dustdevils are currently on three-gameme losing streak. They last won at home in Laredo, defeating St. Mary's on Jan. 26, 72-58.
  • PROTECT THE ROCK: In their last win, TAMIU shot 59.6% from the field and forced St. Mary's to commit 20 turnovers, which they scored 17 points off. Additionally, TAMIU scored 52 points in the paint. The Pioneers will need to force the Dustdevils to take lower percentage shots. While they did win, the Dustdevils also committed 23 turnovers against St. Mary's. TWU will look to play lockdown defense and protect the ball to secure the win on Thursday in KMA.
