DENTON, Texas (March 12, 2023) – Texas Woman's (13-14, 7-11) softball dropped the final game of their three-game series to #23 West Texas A&M (21-3, 12-3) 6-1.

The weather in Denton on Sunday, March 12 was in the low sixties with a strong breeze.

Janyssa Ramos opened game three for the Pioneers and pitched a total of five innings. Ramos is now 1-4 from the circle. In the latter half of the ball game,
Allison Gonzalez put in one and 1/3 innings of work for the Pioneers.

Jalee McDonald and
Kelsie Briggs both saw action from the mound, with Briggs facing two batters in the sixth.

In the first inning,
Alyssa LeBlanc knocked one out of the park to record an early homerun and the only RBI of the evening for the Pioneers.

In the bottom of the third, the Pioneers threw down in a double play from
Ciana Rodriguez at shortstop to
Avery Boley on first base, moving the Buffs from scoring position to recording two outs.

The Pioneers continued to show up defensively with a total of 21 putouts and seven assists.

For their next Lone Star Conference game, the Pioneers are headed to Odessa, Texas to take on UT Permian Basin at Falcon Field, March 17-18. The first pitch goes off Friday, March 17, beginning at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
