CLIMBING THE HILL
- STARTING STRONG: In their last meeting against the Hilltoppers, the Pioneers scored 18 points in the opening quarter, but allowed St. Edward's to stay connected with 15 points. Then, TWU's defense came alive in the second quarter, holding the Hilltoppers to just nine points. In the third quarter, the Pioneers went on a scoring frenzy and scored 27 points alone in the third. A strong start and establishing the lead early will be key against the Hilltoppers.
- CRASH THE GLASS & SHARE THE WEALTH: Two key stat lines in the Pioneers and Hilltoppers last meeting was rebounds and assists. TWU outrebounded the Hilltoppers 37-25. Ashley Ingram led the Pioneers with 14 rebounds and 20 points. In the assist category, TWU recorded 16 assists to St. Edward's nine. Ingram also led the Pioneers in assists with five.
- GUARD THE PAINT: In the game on Feb. 6, the Pioneers gave up 32 points in the paint, but only allowed the Hilltoppers to shoot 8.3% from the three point line. While St. Edward's found most of their points in the paint, TWU will look to continue to guard the painted area well and force the Hilltoppers into lower percentage shots.
