Dear Basketball,

I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for all that you have brought into my life. From a young age, you have been a constant source of joy, challenge, and personal growth.

Over the years, you have taught me so much. You have taught me the value of hard work, dedication and perseverance. You have taught me the importance of teamwork, communication and trust. You have shown me that success is not just about winning games, but about striving to be the best version of myself both on and off the court.

You have also given me some of my most treasured memories. I will always remember the thrill of hitting a game-winning shot in high school to send my team into a second overtime, finally being offered the chance to get an education and be an athlete, the rush of adrenaline that comes with a fast break, and the camaraderie of playing alongside my teammates.

Through the highs and the lows, the wins and the losses, you have always been there for me. You have provided me with an outlet for my emotions, a community of like-minded individuals, and a sense of purpose and belonging.

But perhaps most importantly, you have given me a sense of purpose. Through basketball, I have found something that I am truly passionate about, something that brings me joy and fulfillment, along with a competitive edge that I can still bring with me in my journey of life without basketball.

As I move forward in life, I know that my relationship with you may change. I may not be able to play as often or as competitively as I once did, but I know that you will always be a part of me. The lessons I have learned from you will stay with me forever.

Thank you, basketball, for all that you have given me. You will always hold a special place in my heart.

Sincerely,

BRI
