DENTON, Texas (Jan. 17, 2024) – After two games on the road, the Texas Woman's basketball team returns home to Kitty Magee Arena this week.
TWU (14-3, 8-1) begins their home slate on Thursday, Jan. 17 against Texas A&M – Kingsville (7-9, 3-6).
Last week, the Pioneers defeated St. Mary's and St. Edward's on the road by an average margin of 16 points. TAMUK faced UAFS and Oklahoma Christian on the road last week. On Thursday, Jan. 11 they lost to UAFS by one point, 55-54. Then, on Saturday, Jan. 13, they defeated Oklahoma Christian 60-57.
The Pioneers are currently on a four-game win streak and have only lost one game in KMA. They will look to continue the win streak on Thursday night.

HOME SWEET HOME
- EFFICIENCY IS KEY: The Pioneers are currently ranked first in the Lone Star Conference and 18th in NCAA Division II in field goal percentage per game, averaging 45.4% per game. TWU currently ranks third in the LSC in points per game with 72.5 points. On the other side, the Javelinas rank seventh in the LSC in field goal percentage, 40.6, and average 59.9 points per game, which ranks 13th in the LSC.
- SHARE THE WEALTH: TWU ranks first in the LSC and 18th in NCAA Division II in assist to turnover ratio at 1.11. The Pioneers currently average 14.7 assists per game and 13.2 turnovers per game. TAMUK ranks eighth in the LSC in assists to turnover ratio, 0.76. The Javelinas average 13.6 assists per game and 17.9 turnovers per game.
- HISTORICAL LOOK: The Pioneers and Javelinas have met 66 times, with TWU owning the slight advantage 34-32. TWU is currently on a four-game win streak against the Javelinas and are 18-15 in KMA. Last season, the two teams met twice with the Pioneers winning both. Their last meeting was on Feb. 11, 2023, and TWU won the game, 57-48, in KMA.
