FRISCO, Texas (March 9, 2024) – The Texas Woman's basketball team advanced to semifinal Saturday for the seventh time in program history.
On Saturday, March 9, the TWU (27-4, 20-2) will meet the four seed Texas A&M International (25-6, 16-6) in the semifinals of the Lone Star Conference Championships. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Last night, the Pioneers clinched their semifinal spot by defeating the eight seed St. Edward's 61-50. After TWU played, TAMIU advanced to the semifinals by defeating the No.5-seed Lubbock Christian in triple overtime, 90-80.
TWU will meet the Dustdevils for the third time this season on Saturday.

- THIRD TIME MEETING: The Pioneers have won the last four meetings with the Dustdevils, including the last two meetings during the regular season. On Jan. 20, TWU met TAMIU in Denton, Texas and defeated the Dustdevils 73-59. Then, on Feb. 15, TWU defeated TAMIU 91-85 on the road in Laredo, Texas. In the most recent meeting, the Pioneers recorded two quarters with 30 or more points to lead them to the victory. Leila Patel led TWU in the win with a career high 27 points. Ashley Ingram scored 17, Scout Huffman finished with 15, Averee Kleinhans scored 12 and Caroline Glud Rasmussen finished with 11 to round out the Pioneers in double digits. Jada Celsur dished out the wealth for TWU, recording a career high 10 assists in the win. The Pioneers scored 46 points in the paint in the win, while shooting 58.9% from the field.
- HIGH EFFECIENCY: TWU's Ingram and TAMIU's Raiana Brown both rank one and two in scoring in the LSC, and they rank two and three in the LSC in field goal percentage. In scoring, Brown has the slight edge, averaging 20.4 points per game to rank first in the LSC. Ingram ranks second, averaging 18 points per game. Ingram has the advantage in efficiency, as she shoots 60.8% from the field to rank second in the LSC and third in NCAA Division II. Brown ranks third in the LSC with a 58.9% field goal percentage on the season.
- PIONEERS IN THE SEMIFINALS: TWU has advanced to the semifinal round of the LSC Championships seven times. They last advanced to the semifinal round last season, when they defeated Lubbock Christian to advance to the Championship. The Pioneers have advanced to the final round three times in program history. TWU will look to make it a fourth tonight against the Dustdevils.
