Over the past 16 triathlons and 5Ks, more than 4,000 participants have enjoyed and competed in the event.
The triathlon team segment is available for the tenth year. With three divisions - male, female, and co-ed - each team member will complete all three components of the triathlon. Then, the overall race times of all three team members will be added together to determine a final team time. The team with the lowest overall time will receive team trophies. Individuals competing as a team are also eligible for overall and age group individual awards.
Another option for the sprint triathlon — the three-person relay — will feature three team members, with each member completing one leg of the triathlon. Following full completion of the total race, the times of each event will be added together and the team with the lowest combined time will win the relay competition.
The Pioneer Power 5K is open to both runners and walkers. Awards will be given to overall winners and top age group finishers.
The various courses will feature scenic routes on TWU's campus and the surrounding area. The swim will take place in the TWU Fitness and Recreation indoor pool. The 16.3 mile bike ride will feature an out-and-back route along Highway 428. Finally, the 5K run will go around Pioneer Soccer Park and the old TWU golf course before going around the perimeter of TWU's campus along Oakland St. and finishing in front of Hubbard Hall in the center of campus.
Profits from the 2024 Pioneer Power Sprint will benefit the TWU soccer program.
