PIONEERS FALL TO TOP RANKED DBU IN DENTON

Denton, Texas (Oct. 15, 2025) – The Texas Woman's soccer team dropped their second Lone Star Conference match of the season Wednesday night, falling 4-0 at home to No. 1-ranked Dallas Baptist. The Patriots scored twice in each half and handed the Pioneers their first home loss of the season.

DBU (12-0-0, 8-0-0) came out strong early as the Pioneers (9-2-2, 5-2-2) were held without a shot on goal. The Patriots extended their lead to cap off a strong offensive showing in the LSC battle for the win.

KEY MOMENTS

  • 11': McKenna Vela opened the scoring for DBU, finishing off a feed from Kenzi Tufts to put the Patriots up 1-0.

  • 30': Chandler Wheat doubled the advantage with a header off a Skylar Belanger cross, sending the visitors into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

  • 50': Vela struck again just after the break, making it 3-0 with her second goal of the night.
  • 76': Angelina Olmos capped off the scoring on an assist from Kylar Coffman.
  • TWU managed seven shots in the match but couldn't find the target, while DBU put eight of their 12 shots on goal. Goalkeepers Amanda Farris and Faith Graves each recorded two saves for the Pioneers.

"Tough result today," Head Coach Babak Abouzar said. "Got to tip your hat to DBU. They did a good job of finishing their opportunities. We learned a lot from this game that we will use this to grow and get better."
