DENTON, Texas (Sept. 22, 2026) - The Texas Woman's soccer team continues Lone Star Conference play this week following a dominant start to the 2026 campaign.
The Pioneers (8-0, 4-0) host St. Mary's (5-2-1, 3-1) for Hispanic Heritage and Faculty & Staff Night on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 6 p.m. at Pioneer Soccer Park. TWU then travels to Wichita Falls, Texas, to face No. 21 Midwestern State (8-0, 4-0) on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m.
TWU has clicked on all cylinders to open the season, outscoring opponents 20-1. The Pioneers average 2.5 goals per game while attempting 19 shots per match and holding opponents to just 4.8 shots per contest. Offensively, Texas Woman's has placed 55.3% of its shots on goal and recorded 15 assists on 20 total goals, showcasing balanced scoring up front.
Defensively, the Pioneers have conceded just one goal through eight matches. Goalkeeper Faith Graves has anchored the defense with 12 saves on 26 shots faced. Backed by a disciplined back line, TWU has surrendered only 38 shots overall while generating 152. The Pioneers also hold a 50-10 advantage in corner kicks, demonstrating their ability to control possession and apply sustained pressure.

A LOOK AT THE RATTLERS: St. Mary's arrives in Denton following a 3-0 loss to No. 3 Dallas Baptist on Saturday. The Rattlers have scored 18 goals this season (2.25 per match) while attempting 111 shots (13.9 per match). Defensively, St. Mary's allows 1.63 goals per game on 140 total shots faced (17.5 per match) and has surrendered 13 goals. St. Mary's holds a 5-4-3 advantage in the all-time series, but TWU has won the last three meetings. The Rattlers look to bounce back from Saturday's setback and add another victory to their LSC ledger.

The Pioneers have scored multiple goals in seven of their eight matches. Defensively, TWU has allowed just one goal through eight contests. A LOOK AT THE MUSTANGS: Midwestern State enters the weekend tied atop the LSC standings. The Mustangs earned a spot in the national rankings this week after receiving votes in the previous United Soccer Coaches Poll. Before hosting TWU, MSU travels to Lubbock Christian on Wednesday following a 1-0 victory at UT Dallas on Saturday. The Mustangs have dynamic quality at both ends of the pitch, scoring 24 goals (3.0 per match) while allowing zero goals across eight consecutive shutouts. MSU averages 20.6 shots per game while allowing just 40 total shots (14 on goal) all season.
The Pioneers return to Pioneer Soccer Park on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. kickoff against the Rattlers before heading west for a Saturday night showdown against Midwestern State at 7 p.m. at Stang Park in Wichita Falls, Texas.
