Sophomore Amanda Walker (pictured) has been selected as the TWU Gymnastics Pioneer of the Week (P.O.W.) for the week of Nov. 8-14, 2008. Walker is a native of San Antonio, Texas and a product of USA Aerial Athletics.

Walker is currently rehabilitating from an off-season shoulder injury. She was picked as this week's P.O.W. because, despite the fact that she is hurt, she has still contributed in the gym for the Pioneers. She has remained upbeat, and been a constant source of encouragment and energy for her teammates. She has also worked hard to say in shape and get stronger to allow her to return to gymnastics as soon as possible.

"Unfortunately, injuries are a part of this sport," said head coach Frank Kudlac. "Amanda is showing, however, that when you are injured you can still play a major role in the success of your team. She's been terrific over the last few weeks."
