My name is Tonya Pipkorn and I’m a Senior Psychology/OT major. As excited as I am to be a senior, I’m sad that this is my last year of collegiate gymnastics.

On Tuesday we received a surprise when we found out we had purchased a brand new floor for our practice gym! We used that day to break down the old floor and build the new one so it gave us a bit of rest from gymnastics.

On Thursday morning at 4:45 a.m. we had our 2nd Annual September Team Challenge. Even though it was really early in the morning, each class came in with bright eyes and matching outfits (pictured above)! There were four teams (Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors) and we were given clues that led us all around campus. As a team we solved the riddles and ran (or biked) to that place and took a picture. The more creative the picture, the more points you received. We also earned points by finding the correct place and having the pictures in the correct order. The winners of the 2 nd Annual September Challenge were the Juniors, coming in a close 2 nd was the Senior class, the Sophomores came in 3 rd and the Rookies took 4 th. It was definitely an interesting experience as most of the classes battled with various elements (such as ditches) to reach the end. We are excited to have September behind us and to move on to “Roc-tober” and more gymnastics!

A special congratulation to junior Leslie Pladson who received the first “Pioneer of the Week,” aka “POW” award, for her hard work over the summer, great attitude and excellence in the classroom!

Check back with us next week for more updates on our team. Go Pioneers!
