Hello Pioneer Fans!

Welcome back to another exciting week of TWU Gymnastics. My name is Brista Michael and I am a senior Health Studies/Biology major. I can’t believe how fast time has gone the last three years I have been here and I am excited to finish my collegiate career with the team for 2009. I am excited to see this year’s team work towards another USAG Collegiate national championship and reach some other milestones as well. There is a lot of talent, determination, and heart coming from each person that makes it fun to come in to the gym every day and see the energy!

We have a full week’s worth of official practice under our belts and there have already been some impressive skills getting the “dust wiped off.” Between the early morning runs, lifting, conditioning, and our normal practices, I am very impressed with how everyone’s bodies have been able to get used to gymnastics and get ready for the season. We continue to get stronger with each practice and will definitely be ready for season when it gets here.

We ended this week with our first practice of the year at the UNT track. The first task was to retest the 1.5 mile for those that needed to make it in 12 minutes. We were able to help three more make the goal time. Congratulations, ladies! After some sprints and stadiums, we were able to rest before helping out at the gymnastics meet held in Pioneer Hall. Working the meet this weekend gave us the opportunity to rest and recover before getting into the gym again.

Check back next week for more insight into Pioneer gymnastics!
