Hello!
Well we’ve had a couple of fun-filled weeks here at TWU. We have been working very hard, and put some quality time into our workouts and our team. We went through some changes as a group and have faced some adversity after our holiday break, but in my humble opinion, the team has done a good job of stepping up and trying to get our jobs done as well as possible.
We not only have had a lot of hard work throughout these weeks, but we have also had some fun together. We had some team lunches and dinners. We also went bowling as a team. We won a contest against the other TWU teams in a canned food drive in the fall semester and the prize was a bowling outing. The coaches worked very hard on our break schedule and we had some off time to relax and get some catch-up time for ourselves to get ready for the upcoming semester.
One of the highlights of the break was a retreat that the team went on together. We had so much fun and got some bonding time in. We ate dinner, set our goals out on posters that are now in the gym as visual reminders, and did some team activities. All in all it was a fantastic trip, and I can’t really do it justice. But there were changes that went on at the retreat as a team and we really came closer together and got a lot of our thoughts out. We all appreciated how hard the coaches worked on our bonding time together.
We also had our season-opener against Oklahoma University this past Saturday night. The meet did not go as well as we planned, but there were definitely some good things that came out of it. The vault and floor teams competed very well, and after a very rocky beam rotation, the floor team did a fantastic job of stepping up to the challenge and showing their heart. We are all going to be glad to get back into the gym to work hard and get prepared for the second meet of our 2009 season against Southeast Missouri. Also, Olympic All-Around Champion Nastia Liukin is going to be making an appearance and will be signing autographs before the meet, so make sure to come out and support us, and see Nastia as well! We set the second-highest attendance record this past Saturday, and with Nastia coming to TWU, we hope to break the all-time attendance record! We need our fan support!
Until next time…Go Pioneers!!
Through our eyes, you see our hearts……..
