Welcome back, Pioneer fans!

After our first home meet we entered the gym determined and fully committed to the hard work that was coming our way. We have set high goals for ourselves and to achieve these goals we realized that we must step up the intensity during practice and competition. We had a short week of practice to prepare for our second home meet of the season against Southeast Missouri State University, one of our conference rivals. On top of that, we promoted a very exciting appearance at our meet by Olympic All-Around Champion Nastia Liukin. Nastia made her appearance at the meet, signed autographs, and marched in with us (see picture below)! It was a great pleasure to have such an accomplished gymnast support TWU Gymnastics in front of our dedicated crowd of 1,040 fans, friends, and family members. This was the second meet in a row with over 1,000 fans in Magee Arena to watch us!

One of our team goals this year is to improve every meet, and we significantly improved our team score from the last. At practice we are continuing to push ourselves and our teammates for the best we can be. We still have some work to do but with the heart of this team I feel we will reach that point very soon.

This week was also the first week of spring classes. Academics are very important to us and we look forward to excelling not only in the gym but also in the classroom.

Our next meet is Saturday, January 31, at 7:00 pm vs. University of Iowa and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in Iowa. It is our first away meet of the season; a very exciting endeavor for us! Wish us luck as we travel and represent TWU Gymnastics with pride.

Through our eyes you see our hearts!
