Oct. 19, 2009 from junior Caroline Hilpisch

Hello everyone! My name is Caroline Hilpisch. I am a Junior from Stillwater, Minnesota, and my major is elementary education. Let me tell you that this week has been crazy and awesome both in and out of the gym!

In the gym our word of the week was “trust.” We are going to have to be able to have trust in our coaches, teammates and ourselves if we want to be a consistent team this year and accomplish the goals that we want to and will achieve!

This week in the gym we started putting parts of our routines together. It has been absolutely amazing! We are doing first and second halves both on bars and beam, lots of endurance routines on floor and starting to put our tumbling passes down on the real floor! I just get the chills thinking about how unbelievable we are looking in the gym at this point in our training! Our team chemistry is wonderful. We are so close and we are behind each other 100%. When one person does something new or outstanding in the gym, we all feel like we did it too, and we did because each and every one of us was a part of what she accomplished. For example, in the gym this week Rashonda landed her front handspring front full on vault and every single one of us ran up to her and were screaming, shouting, laughing, and tearing up as we surrounded her with excitement and congratulations. It looked like a big huge Rashonda sandwich! Ha ha! Also this week I really do believe that we have accomplished so much because we have been having FUN! We all are just in good moods all the time. We are dancing and laughing like crazy! We enjoy what we are doing each and every day in the gym and we put 100% into every single turn making everything count and not holding back. We have a dream, desire, and a vision, and we are going to make that come true!

Outside the gym has been a blast as well! We supported the TWU volleyball team and went to watch their game. Also this weekend we went to the Peterbilt employee family fair and did community service for the United Way. We had lots of fun giving the children stickers and candy! And of course we also had the UNT parade that we were in! That was very enjoyable like always. We handed out lots and lots of schedule cards for our home meets so we better have more fans this year! Ha ha! Also there were a few of us that did tons of aerials and handstands for the people, and oh boy, do I need to go sit in the whirlpool! Ha ha!

This past week was one of our best weeks and all of our hard work is starting to pay off. We are definitely seeing that! I can’t wait to start a new week and continue to put that money in the bank, as coach likes to say. ?

Thank you so much everyone for all of your support of TWU gymnastics!

Dream. Desire. Vision. We are ONE!
