Oct. 3, 2009 from junior Mollie Blessing

Hello Pioneer Fans!

I am Mollie Blessing, a junior Biology major from Plano, Texas. I am extremely excited to see what this year has in store for us. We have tremendous potential to accomplish our goals, and have a great team chemistry to back that up!

This has been an exciting week in and out of the gym for the Pioneers. Our focus word for this week was picked by senior Alexa Brennan - “focus.” It was very apparent with our gymnastics this week that were was an additive focus on our assignments and each turn. We started off our last week of September practice on Sunday with a tumbling assignment from coach - 100 double backs on our feet!!! This was a tough assignment, but we finished with time to spare. It was awesome to see all the doubles and that so many were done on the hard floor!

Throughout this week in practice big strides were made with continuing to get out of our “comfort zone” and to try new and old skills again. There is a lot of big gymnastics already being done so early in the year; very exciting to watch!

We concluded our week with our famous “Team Challenge Day.” This is always a lot of fun for everyone. Each class designs t-shirts and has their own theme for the day. Seniors dressed up as the old ladies they are. “Geriatric Gymnastics” was their theme. Priceless outfits of stylish windbreakers and grey hair color spray. The juniors had a “3 Musketeers” theme as there are only three of us. The sophomores dressed up as Ninja turtles and even put on some war paint. The rookies had shirts of the Seven Dwarfs! At 7 a.m. we were off to find pictures of specific objects all throughout campus. Anything and everything was fair game. We were all over campus looking for random signs, trucks, offices, statues, and streets! It concluded at 8:30 a.m. and the results were tallied. Coming in first place - the seniors, second place - the sophomores, third - the juniors, and a strong fourth - the rookies. Different incentives were awarded for places in finishing. The seniors do not have practice on Sunday and can enjoy an extra long weekend! The second place team, the sophomores, get out of a morning lift on Tuesday (which are 6 a.m. workouts). The third place team, the juniors, do not have a swim after practice on Monday!! We then enjoyed a nice team breakfast afterwards!

Later on that evening for a little team bonding outside of the gym, a big group of us went out for some country dancing! Lots of fun was had by all!

Check back next week for our first full week of Roc-tober!

Dream. Desire. Vision. We are ONE.
