Welcome back fans,

This week was full of excitement and surprises for the TWU Gymnastics team. We started off the week with another “leo only” practice on Sunday. We completed our mini intrasquad, as Keri mentioned in the last post, by showing off our floor and bar routines. It was great to see both the bar and floor teams do pressure sets and watch them show off all the hard work they have been putting in. Each day we are moving in the right direction, and as Coach often says, putting money in the bank! The excitement in the gym was kept up throughout the week by everyone working hard to take down the remainder of their goals on the wall. Expectations are high and motivation to get our goals is continuing to rise. It has been great to look around the gym and see our pile of goals that we have accomplished thus far.

On Thursday, it was Coach Lisa’s birthday and we surprised her with a card and some muffins. Our coaches do so much for us, and it was great that we could do a little something for her to show our appreciation. Each and every day our coaches come in with positive attitudes and put everything on the line for us. A lot of joy and love for the sport is shown on each and every one of their faces and it makes me proud to say I get the opportunity to be on this wonderful team. What great examples they are for our team!

At the end of practice on Thursday, Coach sat us down and asked us to figure out one of his acronyms. This time it was SIT. We pondered on it for a while, and he finally told us what it was. Surprise Intrasquad Tomorrow!! We were all going have our meet make-up and hair done due to the filming for our video promotion so it would feel like a real intrasquad for us!

We all came in Friday and you could feel the excitement in the air. Each event warmed up, and we met in the hall for our march in. We did our cheers, had our choj, and marched out for the start of our meet. As a tradition, when we have intrasquads during practice, the team sings the national anthem. After the screeches and out of tune voices rang throughout DGL , we started off on vault. The vault team did a great job and posted a 5/6 percentage. Next, we went to bars and had another great performance from each gymnast and again posted a 5/6 percentage. The beam team and floor team showed off their grace and power while they too posted a 5/6 percentage. The results from this intrasquad really showed us how much we can accomplish this year if we keep working hard and put our noses to the grindstone. If we keep building upon our performances in the gym each practice, I see only good things happening for this team.

As always, thank you for your continued support of the TWU gymnastics team and tune in next week to hear about our short practices before Thanksgiving break! We wish you all a great Thanksgiving holiday and encourage you to come and watch us compete Dec. 5th at our Intrasquad Holiday Spectacular!

Dream. Desire. Vision. We are One.
