Oct. 26, 2009 from senior Alexa Brennan

Hello Pioneer Fans!

I am senior Alexa Brennan, here to fill you in on this week’s Pioneer gymnastics activities.

Our last week of Rock-tober was filled with lots of hard work and fun. We came back into the gym refreshed after having a blast at skit night. Goals are flying off the wall and routines are coming together. On Monday we did our first full sets on floor and they were awesome!

Thursday after practice we volunteered at Boo at the U! This is a fun event where kids from the community come enjoy Halloween at TWU. There are games and activities all around. We participated in trunk or treat. Cars are parked and kids come trick or treat from the tailgates. We were all dressed up as witches, cats and baseball players. We passed a lot of candy out and had a great time. We enjoyed looking at all the creative costumes and how cute the kids were.

Friday the weather was finally good and we got to make our annual pumpkin patch trip! This is one of my favorite traditions we have on the team. We took a ride on the tractor and looked at all the fun pumpkin scenes. Then we each picked out a pumpkin - everyone got a great one! We wandered around Pumpkin Land taking pictures including some with the cute kittens. After eating a great BBQ meal, the team sat down and had a discussion. We set goals for the year, both personal and for the team. We also talked about our focus for the year…consistency. This talk is fun because we get to help the rookies understand more about our team and the traditions we have. The weather at the Pumpkin Patch was not too cold, which was nice, and we all had a great time.

It was nice to have a couple days of rest, but we are ready to get back into the gym. November is a short month and we all know how important every practice is. We have more routines and more small stuff to work on.

We had a great fun-filled Halloween week. Thanks for keeping up with the team. Check back next week for another update on the team and our push towards the start of the season.
