Hello, Pioneer Fans!
With the second home meet behind us, we were determined to keep improving in the gym for our next meet at the University of Iowa. One of our season-long goals is to have confidence—in ourselves and each teammate as she steps up to do her routine. We have made great strides in this as the beginning of the season progresses and this week it showed. We had a long week of practices to build even more confidence and prepare for the trip to Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Tuesday was an unexpected “snow/ice day” for the university. Everyone was able to enjoy the closed campus by spending time at home relaxing and catching up on school work. Luckily, we were able to make up the missed practice the next day. Since a Wednesday practice in uncharacteristic, it was a great opportunity for everyone to get into the gym and be efficient and get their work done.
We started out the first away trip with the early morning parking lot arrival and the traditional puppy chow. We arrived at our destination safely and enjoyed the time to work on school things and rest. The entire team was excited to show the hard work that we had been putting in each week. Another season-long goal is to improve every meet and although the meet did not turn out as expected, some things were improved. The bar team improved from the last meet, where there were five made routines out of seven, to making eight out of the eight routines competed! Great job ladies! As a whole, we all seemed confident in each other but can still see areas that need to be worked on.
After the meet, the team collaborated and made some great goals for the short practice week ahead of us. We have great aspirations as a team and I am excited to see where that takes us in the season to come.
Check back next week for more Pioneer Gymnastics news!
