Welcome back Pioneer Fans!!!

This past week has probably been one of our most important weeks in the gym. We are reaching the midway point of the season and it is extremely rare to have the opportunity to have an entire week to dedicate for training. We got back from Utah excited to get back into the gym to polish up our routines for the “Think Pink” meet.

This week our main focus was on the little things, such as stuck landings, pointed toes and hit handstands. I would say we did a great job in reaching that goal. We made great strides in that direction and it really showed this weekend at the “Think Pink” meet.

We set a season high team score of 193.350 and we had several individual highs. Rashonda Cannie scored a 9.825 on floor and Caroline Hilpisch scored an incredible 9.775 on floor in her first routine of the year since coming back from injury. Marcella Fallon also had a season high 9.775 on the vault.

I think everyone did wonderful at the meet; there was a lot of noise and excitement just beaming within everyone our team. Before the meet we just knew it was going to be a great day. It is an indescribable feeling and everyone I talked to had it. We were all confident and ready to get out there, perform, and have fun. We did just that. All of the hard work had paid off and it felt great.

After the meet we got to help out with a free clinic for a lot of young aspiring gymnasts who wanted to participate. This is always an enjoyable opportunity allowing the children to interact with our team. I love watching the kids faces when they get to be out on the big floor and do what the “big girls” do.

Well, that’s about it for this week. It will be a short week in the gym followed by a long trip to the Air Force Academy on Thursday and the University of Denver on Saturday. Stay tuned for the next update to our journey.
