Apr. 9, 2009 from senior Jennifer Kingsbury - Day 3 of the 2009 USAG National Championships

TWU gymnastics
Hello Pioneer Fans!

Yesterday marked the first day of competition at this year’s National Championship. Everyone was extremely excited and ready to compete and it showed when TWU started out the competition strong on beam hitting six for six routines.

The floor team continued the momentum not having to count any mistakes.

Next we moved over to the vault, and once again TWU got the job done counting five solid scores. The competition ended on bars, and we counted five good scores.

Our goal for this first day was to advance to the second day of competition and we definitely met that goal qualifying in first place with a 192.850 TWU also won many individual honors last night. Rashonda Cannie tied for first place in the all around with a 38.725 We also had five girls qualify for the individual event finals on Saturday afternoon. Rashonda qualified on vault, bars, and beam , Kristie Costa qualified on vault, bars, and beam, Tonya Pipkorn qualified on beam and floor, Brittany Parker qualified on vault and beam, and Amie Boles qualified on floor.

Even though we had a good competition and came in first there was definitely room for improvement. Check back (to twuathletics.com) tonight to see all of those improvements and find out if we won our tenth National Championship! And, if everything goes according to plan Coach Kudlac will be missing some hair on Saturday morning!

X!!!!!!!!!
