Individual finals, a sweet end to our trip in Connecticut. For some, the competition was over, but for others, they got a chance at redemption. The top ten gymnasts on each event from the team semifinals were able to compete as individual finalists. Five of our gymnasts took part in the individual finals - Brittany Parker on beam and vault, Tonya Pipkorn on beam and floor, Roshanda Cannie on floor, bars, and vault, Kristie Costa on vault and beam, and Amie Boles on the floor exercise.

We showed up today with a new desire to take back what was rightly ours. The seniors really shined; with their performance it was evident that each one of them competed with heart. Amie Boles and Tonya Pipkorn tied for first on floor! Tonya also tied for third on beam and Brittany Parker took second on vault and tied for fifth on beam.

Watching our girls compete today was an unforgettable experience. The team was not out there collectively, but all of us were with the girls in every move they made. It was such a memorable day; having the chance to conclude this season with such a cohesive and loving group of girls was a great way to end the year! There were a lot of memories made on this trip that we will all remember.

After the meet we were able to come back to the hotel for a little rest and relaxation. It was much needed after the long three days of intense competition. Later we continued our Texas pride by going to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. We thought it would be a nice way end to our trip to Connecticut, but Coach had some other surprises in store. After dinner, he treated us to dessert at Friendly’s. It is amazing how just the mention of dessert wakes up a group of 14 gymnasts. Needless to say we were the loudest people in the restaurant. The servers were kind enough to get the ice cream out in a timely manner. I wonder why? After finishing the ice cream we came back to the hotel with a belly full of ice cream and gymnasts on a sugar high. I am sure once we all come down from our sugar high we will sleep sound tonight ready for a long day of travel tomorrow.
