April 6, 2009 from senior Brista Michael
Welcome back, Pioneer fans!
With the last full week of practices behind us, we are ready to dominate at the 2009 USA Collegiate National Championship! The coaches stressed all week how important these last couple of practices were. We needed to approach every assignment in a positive way and continuously keep the little details in the forefront of our minds. Coming off this week, I think we have made many strides and found all of the little things that will make us go from “good to great.”
Not only has this last week of practices been beneficial to us, but the weeks and months preceding. This is what we have worked for since day one - a chance to show how talented we are as a team and how much heart and dedication we have to the sport of gymnastics. I am so excited to go to Southern Connecticut and compete in my last national competition with this special group of girls. We will do our very best to represent Texas well and bring home number 10!! Go PiONEers!!
This week was also “secret psych” week. I think I speak for the entire team when I say that one of my favorite TWU traditions. This is where each person has a secret person to “psych” up and get them little gifts. Each class also “psychs” up the whole team. It is fun to come in every day and see what your secret person has gotten for you to get you ready for nationals.
“The TWU gymnastics team will work to dominate and win a 10th national championship title in Southern Connecticut on April 10th. Our goal is to hit routines, look confident, and have fun at the national championship. We will do anything and everything it takes to make this come true. We will give 100% at each and every practice, and do our best to be positive for our teammates, our coaches, and ourselves. We will make the necessary sacrifices both in and out of the gym to achieve this goal. The TWU gymnastics team will hit routines and win the 2009 USA Collegiate National Championship. HISTORY AWAITS AGAIN!!”
There will be daily updates while at the national championship. Check back for each day’s update and excitement from TWU ’09.
