Hello Pioneer Fans!
My name is Keri Miller and I am a senior Kinesiology student here at TWU. I am beyond excited for this season and am looking forward to the many months coming up and all the team has to offer this year!
This past Monday was our first official practice day, full of conditioning, running, sprints and swimming. It was great to have the whole team together; all the girls are working hard and getting ready for the pre-season to start!
Tuesday was our first gymnastics practice! We were all in the gym ready to go and really started to work together on events and get to know each other in the gym.
Morning lifts have been going well. They are much different than in the past and encompass a lot of circuit training, but we are all adapting well and enjoying the program. It is going to come in handy these next few months of training.
Friday was our run/conditioning practice at UNT. We retested the mile and a half, and had four more girls make it under the 12-minute time. Way to go Ro and Britt M, LP and Caroline! We enjoyed a nice morning of field sprints and conditioning, followed by some stadiums. The enthusiasm from the team was great! Everyone kept such a positive attitude and we all worked together! The rest of practice was great to utilize the pit and tumble track for dismounts and drills. It allowed us to get out of our comfort zone a little more, and it was so nice to see some new skills!
Friday afternoon, the juniors, seniors and coaches participated in our annual upperclass retreat. We set some amazing goals for the season, discussed our expectations for the year, and came up with our motto…
Dream. Desire. Vision. We are ONE.
It was nice to have a collaborative effort on the theme of the year; we really feel it will help jump start us onto a whole new level! It was an amazing experience to come together and work together and start the year off right. Plus, we got to play on a lake, make a couple of delicious meals, and enjoy one of our favorite things… MALLOWS! (marshmallows)
I could not be more excited for this year for TWU Gymnastics! We have set the bar high and I am so thrilled to be helping lay the foundation for the 2010 season!
Go Pioneers!!!
Aiming for Ten in Ten!
