What a great week for the Pioneers! We started back to school on Tuesday, but not before we had a wonderful practice Monday to put a great exclamation point at the end of Kamp Kudlac!

All of us were excited to start back to school and get back onto a normal schedule. This meant getting back to morning lifts which was pretty rough to start again, but nice to be up and going and ready for our week! Everyone is ready to hit the books this spring semester and the team and our coaches have set high expectations for us both in and out of the gym!

Pioneer gymnasts were all over Denton and the community, passing out posters and selling tickets at local nearby gyms for our home opener versus Centenary. It was great to be out in the public informing everyone of the meets we have planned for the season, and very nice to get the community involved and ready for our incredible spring meet schedule!

Thursday was our “top 7” day on Bars, Beam and Floor, and Friday the vault team kicked it into gear. Other events had a light day, focusing on the final touches and mental preparation for the weekend!

Team
Saturday was our home opening meet and what an amazing way to start out the 2010 season in Denton! It was so great working together as a team and having the freshmen learn and get to know all our home traditions. Training room and locker room time is always a blast, getting ready and pumped up for the meet, and we were thankful to have our trainer back and healthy!

We started off the meet on Vault with some solid scores, and headed to Bars and continued to build the foundation for the meet. Beam has made massive improvements in their focus and determination, and Floor rocked the house with our home crowd and alumni cheering us on along the whole way! We had so many career highs and personal bests. It was so nice to see the team working together and truly competing for each other as a team. After the meet, the freshmen got to experience of signing autographs for the first time and afterward we got a pleasant surprise for Sunday practice; just a good strong focus on our lift and some cardio!

We are so proud of our start for the season, and cannot wait to see what the rest of the season has in store for us. We look forward to seeing you all this next weekend in Dallas at the Dallas Convention Center for the Metroplex Challenge to cheer on your TWU Gymnastics Team! Go Pioneers!!!
