What a great Spring Break week for the Pioneers! We came back from California excited and focused for our short week in the gym before Senior Night! We really set out with a purpose: to work together, be a STRONG team, and truly knock out any weaknesses that are holding us back. We got to spend extra time together outside the gym without having classes during the break, and were able to relax and focus in on practice!
Thursday’s practice we were lucky enough to train in the competition gym! It was really great to get into the meet situation early and mentally prepare for Friday night.
Friday came faster than expected! What an AMAZING evening! The juniors spent the week preparing for the night, and all the underclassmen worked hard on the senior posters for the banners! As one of the seniors, I can say we have the most incredible team. They put so much thought into the evening and we are so grateful! The fun started in the training room and carried all the way through warm-ups, all the way to march-out when the five seniors’ banners were revealed! All of them turned out so incredible and captured each one of us.
We knew from the beginning of the meet that it was going to be a successful and special night. We started on vault; eyes, hearts and minds united. It just continued escalating from there. We set event records and career and team highs right and left. Watching the girls compete in our last regular season meet brought smiles and tears to everyone’s eyes. All four events performed confidently and consistently and the end result was incredible! What a great way to send out the seniors, - a school record team score of 195.250!
At the end of the meet, our team, coaches, family, alumni and friends honored the seniors. It was so rewarding to have all the support and love from so many people!
But the seniors had a surprise in store as well, thanks to the families and girls. Our assistant athletic director Jeff and our assistant coach Lisa are getting married. We could not be more excited! They started dating our freshman year, and we have watched them all along their road to marriage and wanted to make sure they were given what they deserve…a honeymoon cruise!
The night was so unbelievably memorable; an experience that we will never forget. As one of the seniors, I can say we are thankful to be a part of such an honored and unique program for these past years. We are so thankful for all the people that have been here for us along the way, and could not be more excited to help the team shine at home at Conference and Nationals! Cannot wait to see you all there!
Dream. Desire. Vision. WE ARE ONE!
GO PIONEERS!
