Hello Pioneer fans!
Looking back, this year has taught us many valuable lessons, both in and out of the gym. It has definitely been a good run… Even though we did not finish nationals at the top, we still had an unforgettable season. This team has come so far; from the first time we met at the annual BBQ party at Coach’s house to walking out of the gym at the national championship. The cohesiveness and unity we gained was tremendous and something that can never be taken away. We accomplished so much this year. We won our conference championship for the second time in our program’s history, set a new team record on senior night, and had many new personal records.
From this…
To This…
“We do not remember the days, we remember the moments.”
As seniors, we truly believe this statement. Looking back from our freshman year to now, it is not the actual gymnastics that we remember. Sure, we remember the big meets and standout competitions, but it is much more than that. It is the moments we spent together doing things that make us remember the blood and sweat shed, the moments we came together as a team, and the times we laughed until we peed…A few of these include: Getting caught TP-ing Coach’s house, the mile and a half run test, UNT stadiums, Light Pole day, the theme days of two-a-days, endless hours in the training room, getting stuck at LSU (our bus driver Maria), Coach’s little finder bender, getting lost trying to find the Golden Gate Bridge Beach, sprrriiiinnnggg brrreeeaaakk wooo!!!, winning MIC’s, and last but not least being home at nationals and seeing the camaraderie of our friends and family...
After the meet on Friday night Coach had a chance to meet with some of the alumni. He said all they could talk about were the traditions that have continued on throughout the years. We can honestly say that is what sets our team apart from the rest. The depth and history of the program makes it amazing to be a part of. Every little thing has a meaning, and we are proud to be a part of it!
Going through the program has been a blessing to each and every one of us seniors. We have grown as a class and are sad to be leaving. The standards that are set at TWU are high and have taught us to always strive to be better athletes and people. The lessons we have learned are plenty and the memories we have made are endless. We can’t thank Coach enough for giving us the opportunity to be a part of his prestigious team. It has been an honor being a gymnast for TWU and perform in front of all of you fans. We know that we have enjoyed the support and thank you for all that you do. I guess this is farewell, but don’t worry, you’ll still find us at Pioneer Hall…we’ll be in the stands cheering on our teammates next year and the years to come!
With love and sincere gratitude,
Leslie Pladson and Kelsey Nixon
